Eurovision 2023 – My Top 10

Today is the big day, it’s the day of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 final, and although I’ve been a little too busy to talk about this year’s competition on this blog candidly, however, I must admit that I am very hyped about what we’re getting in store today.

So after watching some of the rehearsals, the two semifinals, and a run-through of the final (thanks to EurovisionFam and the EBU for this opportunity!), and after the semis making me change the order of my ranking… here’s my Top 10 for Eurovision 2023.

10. United Kingdom

Mae Muller brings us “I Wrote A Song”; honestly, this song gives me energy, sass, and excitement. A break-up anthem for the girlies that instead of leashing out on a messy ex-boyfriend, they pen a song, read him for filth with class, and then go out and turn up with your friends.

9. Serbia

Luke Black with “Samo Mi Se Spava” brings an electropop banger that I’ve ended up enjoying more and more as the season progressed. I’m hooked.

8. Belgium

House music for the soul! Gustaph almost shockingly won his country’s national selection process back in January and has ended up proving many people wrong (myself included). “Because of You” is truly a kiki for everyone to join and party.

7. Lithuania

Monika Linkytė is a Eurovision returnee, as she previously competed in 2015 (although back then she competed accompanied by a male singer). This time, she shows her maturity in her entry “Stay”. Also, the folk chant “ciūto tūto” just warms my heart.

6. Czech Republic

The sisterhood, that’s it. Vesna and their homage to Slavic women, “My Sister’s Crown”, is just magnetic to me. I love it. The way the Czech delegation elevated the performance rather than taking the music video’s concept.

5. Austria

Irony, sarcasm, message, and reading the music industry for filth are what captivates me about Teya & Salena’s banger “Who The Hell is Edgar?”.

4. Slovenia

The Joker Out boys are a mood, a vibe and they are the moment. “Carpe Diem” is a moment, and the guys sell it on stage entirely on their charisma, and I am sold. Eurovision had a battle of the bands in 2023, and to me, the biggest stand out is Slovenia’s. Charming, youthful, fresh, yeah, I love them!

3. Sweden

Loreen is Loreen. The winner of Eurovision 2012 has returned to the competition with “Tattoo”. A modern love song about when that person is really stuck on you and it’s hard to let them go. Loreen is a strong and magnetic performer, with a powerful voice and honestly, I am loving this package.

2. Finland

Käärijä is one of the most interesting artists we have in Eurovision this year. “Cha Cha Cha” is a frenetic song that keeps you hooked the entire time. I feel a lot of joy and excitement when I see this performance and every time I listen to the song I also feel happy. A Käärijä win would make me happy, and the kitsch element that has always been present at Eurovision every year.

1. Spain

Blanca Paloma and “EaEa” are just the gift that keeps on giving. I don’t have words to explain how much I love this entire package. Spain has not won Eurovision in over 50 years and honestly, this is the vindication of the ethnic culture we need to see triumphant tonight. VAMO’ ALLA LA BLANCA PALOMA!

I am ready for whatever result to take place tonight.
